Short-term work in Spain

Short-term work in Spain?
Hi, Have roughly 3 months to kill, and am considering going somewhere in Spain and finding short-term employment there. I speak good Spanish, as well as Italian and English fluently; I'm an EU citizen; I've got a TEFL certificate and experience as a TEFL teacher. Hell, I've even got an MA...I just want to do something with myself for these upcoming months rather than waste time in my home country. Would I be able to simply walk into a bar/language school/restaurant/hotel and find work? My city of preference would be Barcelona, but am open to Madrid, Valencia, whatever - don't know if I'm more likely to find work in one rather than the other. Any help guys/girls? :) Thanks

You should have no problem getting bar work here, but the wages will be less than somewhere like the UK. You will probably have to work long hours and at times when people want to be served. Many bars here stay open until the last customer goes home. If you are from the UK you could try the area around Torrevieja. There are more Brits there than Spaniards. Everywhere you go there are bars and restaurants. It isn´t a very classy place though. I live in rural Spain. I doubt you´d get work here as there aren´t the jobs. Barcelona & Madrid may be expensive for accommodation but best of luck anyway.

Why not???? Go to Spain, you can work as teacher, these 3 cities are nice but also San Sebastian is nice and is close to Francia, You can do many things there, Good luck y diviertete

unfortunatley.... beleive me.... the uk government willl do anything they flipping can to get tax off you!! To make sure all our DOSSERS are looked after with our workers money.... have there housing paid for.... food, tv, cars, fancy mobile phones (cell phones). englands turning into a dump thanks alot Tony blair.... you did us a fat lotta good didnt you!
2 :
I don't think you do have to pay tax when you work offshore, you don't when you work on cruise ships, so long as you have your paperwork in order and can prove this is the case, it might be OK. However, I would do as much research on this as you can or call and speak to an accountant in the UK to find out your rights. This website appears to be on the right lines for information you need http://www.taxcafe.co.uk/non-resident-offshore-tax.html

apply for permanent residency at the spanish embassy in your country by requesting the application for residency. That's what I did and received my visa in 7 months. However, I´m sure it was that easy because i was a US citizen.

one possibility would be as an interpreter (assuming you speak spanish fluently and are fluent in another language)
2 :
David, Are you from an EU member country? If so you can transfer all your health and social security benefits / history to Spain. A residents card would be useful and is easily available at very little cost. If not then youy´ll need to convice the Spanish embassy in your country that a working visa is good for Spain. You´ll have to sell your skills and profession to them. Ok, so you now need to find a job; If you speak Spanish look through the following spanish job sites; infojobs.net monster.es michaelpage.com If you don´t speak spanish, go to the same sites and only complete the search box with "ENGLISH". This will bring up english job options. You really need a minimum of two CV´s; 1 in English 1 in Spanish (with or without photo) However it is better to have tailored CV´s accenting different facets of your work history and responsibilities. Your final option is to look in your own country for job opportunities with relocation to Spain. Hope that helps! http://www.madrid-guide-spain.com

wouldn;t bother even considering living in Spain. Its not the place painted on the TV or what you see on holidays for two weeks at a time. The place as a whole, is going downhill, I have seen this decline over the last 3.5 years. The bars and restuarantas are not doing very well with many really struggling to survive the summer, let alone the winter. You cannot buy the same level of goods here as you can in the UK, there are so many rip offs and scames going with regard to buying property too, with many estate agents being rip off merchants and over charging horrendously. Many homes are up for sale and not selling, prices are begining to fall and those who have mortgages will soon be in a negative equity position, many not even selling through estate agents because of the fees. Taxes are frequent, while the equivalent of the council tax may not be much, inheritance tax is a big issue, its payable within 6 months of death and kicks in after 15k€ not the several hundred thousand pounds you're all moaning about in the UK! You can't sell the property to pay the taxes either! 50% of new build homes are not selling and 9% of the housing stock is empty, people are being sold the dream of a property in the eastern side of europe from here now as they know the market is done here. prices of food and fuel are much the same as the Uk but wages considerably lower! So in the long term its more expensive to live here. Its all very well coming for two weeks and thinking its great, it not, its dull, and dead, shops dont open 24/7 and they only have sunday opening during the high season, thats if youpre on the coast as well! Its hard being here and I can;t wait to be able to get out... You will also be subjected to stacks of red tape and blatant racism as there is a huge resentment of the spanish towards the english as its the english thats built this place up, pricing the spanish out of many things.....you ownt get work for a spanish company unless you are completely fluent, dont even consider coming here to be a plasterer or builder, the place is saturated completely and they are all struggling for a bit of work, undercutting each other and almost working for nothing....

How to get a job as a doctor in Spain

How to get a job as a doctor in Spain?
I am from Malaysia. I am a doctor currently training under the field of Paediatrics. I wish to go abroad and work in Spain, and wish to be under a Paediatric training as well in Spain. Anyone could give me some answers as to how I can go about it? Are there any entrance exams? How's the working life (and salary) as a doctor in Spain?

You should firstly check to see if your qualification is recognized here in Spain. If it is not you will need to apply to have your qualification validated. Quite often you also need to have been in practice in your country of qualification for a certain number of years before you can do this - http://www.tumbit.com/how-to-guides/articles/121-how-to-get-your-professional-qualification-recognised-in-spain.html
2 :
Are you QUALIFIED to work in Spain? Do you have a work visa for Spain? Are you so spectacular a doctor that you eclipse the qualifications of the doctors already working in Spain? Did you know that Spain has an unemployment rate of over 20%? And that people are standing in line to do jobs that are far beneath their skill levels? CITIZENS and NATIVES of Spain?

I want to work as a nurse in Italy or Spain

I want to work as a nurse in Italy or Spain?
I'm from the UK, I'm a qualified nurse with a degree and I'd like to work in Italy or Spain. Id like to know: 1) If I can work there with my current qualification (I can work in USA, Australia, etc, so I guess so) 2) What knowledge of the language I'd need to acquire first 3) If there is anything like a nursing home for expats where I could work in English, and learn in my spare time for a year or so.

Well I am sure the answer to #2 is their language unless your working at a hospital for english speaking expats and tourists I would imagine the EU has some form of coverage for you in transferring your credentials... I'd talk to the british agency relevant for that as for #3 no idea
2 :
Contact the places you'd like to work directly is the easiest. Or Bunnac or searching for work holiday visas.
3 :
For Italy 1) you may need no more than to get your degree recognized by Ministero della Sanità. That's what's required even for a doctor. 2) It would be appreciated if you know Italian, but here in Italy there's such a need of professional nurses (seems everybody want to be a Doctor... :) a hospital near my home hired (although fo a temporary job) 25 Romanian nurses that didn't even talk Italian.

Whoever is hiring you should really be considering the health and happiness of their workers. Maybe you should buy some umbrella shade, sit down when you can, but I think you should talk to your employer. Spain is Beautiful

join a union, that way you get a paid 15 minute break every four hours, and a half hour unpaid lunch break, for most jobs anyway.
3 :
Maybe not. You should have lots of breaks. If you want to do something about your situation Then have alook at 1-2-3-MONEY.COM perhaps its some thing you may consider. This applies to a work visa.

The Rain in Spain stays Mainly on the Plane. You can use Visa and Mastercard in Spain.
2 :
Mostly, you need to have an Official Work Authorization approved by pertinent Labor Authorities in Spain. Your Spanish employer should arrange that for you. Apart from this requirement, rest of the docs required are pretty much the normal ones for any other visa. You can find the full requirement at http://www.consulate-spain-chicago.com/work.htm
3 :
Hi, the website for the Spanish embassy has very detailed documents on applying for a work visa. Do a google search for Spanish Embassy (nearest major city) and you'll find the local website for one of their consulates or perhaps the embassy itself if you are in the D.C. area. What they won't tell you is that to work in the EU you have to have corporate sponsership and you really need an attorney that specializes in work visas. The exceptions to this are for low-paying positions (aux pares), work/study programs, etc. For any position paying more then 30K euros you'll need to get some kind of sponsership. The reason is that an entity in Spain must pay for and sign some documents and forms to get you on into the Spanish system. Once you have this it's all paperwork and you'll be in Spain working within 3 months.

It depends on your own nationality. Not everyone is american, after all!

dont get the job unless they offer more than 2000 € month.. You must pay about 500 600 € moth to hire as flat. you can pay 200 300 for a room, ( student flat or so ). dinners 8 ,9 €
3 :
If the salary is high enough, take it...Spain is opening very fast to the new technologies ... (Like the other person told you, at least 2000 euros a month starting wages so you can cover rent, food and other expenses.) The highest salaries for compùter experts are in Luxembourg and Ireland...if you can find work there you are really at the top! But Barcelona is a great city to live in. There is so much to see and do there, that you will find yourself short of free time to visit the wonders of the city. And from there you have the rest of Europe at your doorstep! In Spain, once you start working, you automatically have medical coverage by the social security. (you will have to get a spanish social security card.) Taxes are not as high as in the rest of Europe, cost of living has gone up, but no worse than every where else. If you think you would enjoy the change DO IT! Spain is marvelous...(I've lived here 34 years and still haven't seen everything!) My son is in the same field as you, and he has worked in London, Luxembourg, Dublin, and is now in Grenoble, France... Variety is the spice of life in your field...Don't pass up the chance for good experience...It'll look wonderful on your curriculum. I have a godson, also in the same field...He IS from Barcelona...and just found a great job in Paris...so you never know. You may become addicted to Europe . Whatever you decide I wish you good luck!

As an EU Citizen you would need to apply for a residency permit once you have been here 90 Days, and could apply for him as a 'Family Member of an EU Citizen' ( Read these 2 articles ... EU - http://www.tumbit.com/how-to-guides/articles/2-applying-for-residential-status-residencia.html , Non-EU - http://www.tumbit.com/how-to-guides/articles/135-applying-for-residential-status-residencia-non-eu-citizens.html ) Oddly, it is much easier for you to get Residencia than him on his own, however, if you should ever wish to apply for Spanish Citizenship (in some circumstances) it will be easier for HIM to apply, and then you to join him as a family member - in certain cases Mexicans only need to have been resident in Spain for 2 years before they can apply.

There is no trade that would qualify you for immigration. People in the US would kill for a job in the trades. There just aren't enough to go around. You need to be in a profession to qualify for immigration, and it has to be one that we have a shortage of. If you are a doctor, engineer, or computer scientist, you have a chance.

alot of trades will as long as you're legal and if there are any jobs available (jobs are tight now)

It's hard to find a job in Spain now due to the economical crisis. If you're in Palma I think your best chance is to working on a Hotel or something related to tourism. You don't need to have a Tourism certificate or something. Maybe if you speak good English and you can get by in Spanish it's enough for that. This website is for working as a tourist animator on Hotels in Spain, I'm sure there are a wide range of possibilities for Majorca. http://www.ociokonsulting.com/ Another website for working in Hotels http://empleo.trovit.es/ofertas-empleo/work-mallorca Good luck!

Phone numbers Addresses Extra pajamas Medication Cell phone charger Proper Identification Batteries Spanish dictionary Umbrellas Walking Shoes Foreign Language Phrase Books Sunscreen Backpacks Sunglasses Camera Video Camera Shower cap Locks on luggage There are several important items which you shouldn't leave for Spain without, the most obvious being your passport (or ID card) and travel documentation. Take photocopies of your passport, travel documentation, insurance, tickets and credit card numbers and keep them separate from the originals (or send the details to a secure email account) in case they are lost or stolen and you need to give this information to the police. In Spain it is a legal requirement to carry some form of identification - this can be your passport or another form of photographic ID. Before leaving for Spain make an appointment with your GP to check whether you need any vaccinations or boosters for your trip. It is also a good idea to visit your dentist for a check up - the last thing you want is toothache or other dentistry dramas disrupting your trip to Spain. Have a safe trip to Spain.
2 :
Camera may be useful, you will love Spain. What city are you going to?
3 :
Well, not sure where you live now but if coming from USA you will need one of those electrical outlet convertors. How about a towel ((beach))? Alarm clock?
4 :
everything seems to have been covered so far, but I would just like to add that the clothing that you bring should reflect all weather conditions - not just the blazing Sun - especially if you are coming before the end of April, otherwise you are likely to get caught out. If you are bringing a cell phone from home ask your service provider if you can pay a small monthly surcharge for 50% off your international calls as this will save you a small fortune, or if you are feeling brave don't bring your cell phone and instead buy a pre-paid phone card as these work out quite competetive.

I'm not from Spain but i've been there and there are Black people living there (mostly African immigrants) and i didn't notice any racism towards them. Not very positive, I heard. I have some spanish friend and I would said that racism in Spain today is surely not as bad as it was in the USA in the 60'-70's. So, it nothing that should intimidate anyone. There are people that are prejudiced and some other are friendly and well-minded. If you are looking to do research, go for it. I now of many blacks that graduated from prominent Spanish universities before ( and even without being humiliated in the process).
5 :
Well I'm a White Dominican and people made fun of my accent and slang when I went to university there. There the Spanish is so pure they look down on changes to it. But you are a mulato so youll face racial slurs, probably violence, especially after football games and holidays. So never go on the subway around that time. People telling you it isnt racists are those who never been there. Like A lot of Americans think Europe is some big socialists continent where there is racial harmony and everyone is atheists LOL, but if they ever came there they would be really shocked. Remember Spain was the last Fascist country.

Advice on bar work in Spain

Advice on bar work in Spain?!?
Hi, Im thinking of going to work in Spain for the summer, preferably Marbella. I was just wondering whether its hard to get bar work thr, and how much money I would need to bring with me? I intend to leave in May. Does anyone have any experience in this? Thanks

1 :
Here's some advice for you...Stay home. You aren't going to find bar work in Spain until their economy improves. Period. With the unemployment rate at 27% or so, there are no jobs for foreigners. Hopefully, it will be better next year.
2 :
If you do not know anybody in the area, have no place to stay and have no firm job offer to come to it will be difficult to find any work here at the moment. Add in the fact that your Spanish may not be too good and that you have not yet got an NIE number and it will be impossible to find anything that is anywhere close to to being legal. Personally, whilst I admire your spirit, I would plan on doing this next year and spend your immediate time doing something that will help towards your coming to Spain to work for a while - such as learning the language or taking a TEFL exam.
3 :
Yes, I know Marbella very well. Living and paying rent in Marbella will cost a heck of a lot more than you could ever earn from bar work. Apart from that, there are few jobs here on the Costas. Bar work in Spain is poorly paid with long hours. You are working and everyone else are enjoying themselves. Come and have a good holiday and forget the work.
4 :
I say be positive and do it. Why? Because of the experience, sure the ecomomy in Spain is lousy but getting a bar job isn't about making money it is about a once-in-a-lifetime event that you will never forget. Just ask me about orange picking in Greece and my eyes light up!
5 :
It's all about contacts so coming over in May is a good idea as long as you bring enough money to stay here say 3-4 weeks and a trip back home in case things don't work out right. Why not taking a cheap package to some nearby resort, like Torremolinos or similar? From there you can go to the different bars in the area and explore the possibilities, meet people... despite the negative comments, people are still being hired for summer jobs and an English native speaker working in an English bar will NOT be competing with the average unemployed Spanish waiter. Just make sure you have enough money to fly back home at any given moment.
6 :
hahahahha theres no work for the locals, never mind the foreigners. bar work is low paid, long hours and very competetive. you need an NIE number before anyone will employ you and that takes time to get.just come for a good holiday and make enquiries while you are here. if you speak spanish your chances are higher, tho not that much. there is great competition for jobs here, and many south americans come just for summer work, speaking the language of course. if youve no experience, it will go against you as well.I would say wait till the economy recovers, if it ever does, and enjoy a holiday here instead.

be prepared to do 12 hour shifts, make up your mind part of spain are you going to and just put jobs in where ever into yahoo/google
2 :
Getting a work permit is daunting, especially at your age. I don't know what the laws are for someone as young as you AT ALL, much less different nationalities. Very few Spanish youths have jobs. If you see someone who is 16, working in a restaurant in Spain, you can bet that their parents own it. You don't say what your nationality is. If you are from an EU country, then the work permit thing is null, no problem there, but I doubt you will find anyone willing to hire you at that age, or for that short a time. The 12 hour shift thing is important to take into account...again, that may be different for youngsters, but still, something to think about. Also, keep in mind that waitresses don't get tipped in Spain, so the income will be pretty low, compared to a similar job in the States. Try searching online for places that place young people in jobs abroad. EF might be a good place to start. Or a student exchange program, though they generally specialize in placing students, not workers, you might make some contact through one.
3 :
=) If your from any EU Country it will be eaiser... but we have almost 3 million people here looking for work. So you would really have to stand out - and problery be prepared to work ilagily People will hire you then because they won't have to pay your tax and you'll disappear soon, 16 is the minimum age for a job here, ... your trip sound not depend on the factor of needing to get a job other than for some extra money
4 :
Darling sorry to disappoint you but there are no jobs for those of us that are already here, let alone a 16 year old who has no where to live and no job. We are really struggling with the job market the same as everywhere else, so think of going elsewhere. Or better wait till the market picks up again and people are spending then will be a good time to look for work. It is true that most 16 year olds do not work unless it's their parents business (some said this earlier) and you cannot just come to Spain and work without filling in forms to get a social security number for tax purposes, (hardly worth doing for 6 weeks) you may however be offered illegal work but you will not be able to live on the wages. The other serious side of this is that if you had an accident at work you will not be covered for medical care. (Been there done it, many years ago I was working illegally in a restaurant and the chip pan caught fire, I was standing close by, thank God I was not injured, but it made me wonder and I insisted that the owner of the restaurant made me legally employed or I'd leave, he did!) I am sorry to shatter your illusions and dreams of working here in Spain, but I have lived here 17 years and it has got really bad over the last few years.
5 :
as rose as said come out here and join the three million spanish that are trying to find such jobs and then you can join the thousands that go back home disappointed stay were you are at least your parents can help to support you wont get that here ps you have to be eighteen to work in bars and resturants unless it washing up but as the school leaving is eighteen here you will be hard pushed to find anyone to employ you
6 :
Hi Emma, Your age is the biggest hinderence as you are not allowed to serve alcohol unless over the age of 18. This effectively rules out the restaurant possibility. There is an option here for a one week option at "pueblo ingles", basically you speak English with Spanish children: http://www.madrid-guide-spain.com/teach-english-in-spain.html

can i work in Spain

can i work in Spain?!?
i've got a job offered in Spain from a good friend of mine (he is a Spanish and he owns the Bar.) , what do i need to do to work in Spain with my friend? i am from Malaysia. i tried to look for all these details in internet but i could not find any , maybe i am just stupid , please explain to me or give me a link which i can know more about it. what about if i study in Spain? would it be easier to work in Spain?

1 :
Your friend cannot offer you a job before offering it to EU citizen first. Besides a job in a bar is not considered open on the market for foreigners.( no you are not stupid. ) If you can afford to study ? You will need to prove financial to the Embassy of Spain but you must find a school or university that will accept you and then proceed.
2 :
You need a work permit. Your friend may be able to sponsor you for that, but I doubt it. He would have to prove that your abilities can't be fulfilled by someone who is already there and looking for work, which 20% of the population is doing these days. But check with the nearest Spanish Embassy/consulate for more information on that work visa/permit.
3 :
You friend can offer a job to anyone he finds suitable, even if you're not an EU citizen. The moment you got a job offer, you can apply for the residence permit. But most likely your friend is not thinking of hiring you legally. In any case it's your friend who should be in charge of all the legal stuff, not you. To study in Spain you need to prove you'll be actually studying and that you have the money to live here while you study, so you'll be granted with a residence permit but not a work permit. Check with the Spanish consulate/embassy in your country for general info.

depends what you want to do. i'm english too, and i found a job really easily in Italy on www.tefl.com which is a piss-easy way of finding loads of jobs teaching english in any country you fancy. they'll be pining for native english speakers to go to spain, so you'll have no trouble - good luck.
2 :
to get a Ni number in Spain( needed to work) you just have to go to the local police station over there with your passport and they will give you one straight away. finding a job is easy ( summer jobs) there are loads. good luck
3 :
You have to get an NIE or NIF from the police station or tax office. You don't have to get a residence permit as you are an EU national, but you have to carry ID by law. Really it all depends on what kind of job you want. If you want to teach English, get a list of English schools in the area you want to go to, and ring round and see if they'll give you a job. It is a lot more casual than in England.

Needing work in spain

Needing work in spain?
Hi i am looking to work in spain anything at all i dont mind as it is just to make extra money to travel europe... i want to work in spain from end of April until start of July... Please anyone help me :D very greatful :D

1 :
Forget it: Millions of Spaniards cannot find work. Foreigners are not welcome in the job market. All there is, is illegal employment with slave labor rates. If you want well paying work without paying tax go to England.
2 :
So you want to work like 10 weeks? And you think you can make enough money in 10 weeks to travel in Europe? Sorry, sweetie, but the harsh truth is that the unemployment rate is huge, salaries are low, if you get a job for the tourist season, you can't quit in July, if you want to do that, they won't offer you a job for such a short time. Assuming you'd be offered a job at all, which is almost impossible. Unless you have a friend who can offer you a job, save yourself the trouble of coming here and trying to get a job.
3 :
Sorry like the other posters have said unemployment is at 27% there's not enough work for the Spanish or the expats that live here. You aren't even wanting to work in the peak season ,so sorry stay at home and save.
4 :
You realize that Spain is deeeeeeeeeep in recession, and there isn't enough work for people who need to feed their families, right? Good luck to you. And hope you feel good about taking food out of some poor kid's mouth.
5 :
You must be getting pretty bored of hearing that it will be a nigh on impossible task to get work .... but it will ! - To try and out a positive spin on things, if you can extend your stay until the end of August this will cover the Summer "Shutdown period" when all schools and Nurseries are closed. As such many parents need childcare at this time and as such Au Pairs are in demand, you might want to take a look at this link to see if that could be an option for you - http://www.tumbit.com/how-to-guides/articles/120-au-pairs-in-spain.html
6 :
If you can speak fluent Spanish and are prepared to work for a pittance, then you'll find something in the black economy. If you are not prepared to work like that, then forget the idea as there is no work.

Yes it would however you might need to alter you router settings to reflect the country Spain.

The functions and protocols of a router is independent of countries. They are defined by organizations like IETF and every manufacturer have to apply to those standards to be able to communicate with other devices over the Internet or in private networks. And as far as voltages and frequencies are concerned both countries use 230 V / 50 Hz standard.

What type of visa will I need to work and live in Spain

What type of visa will I need to work and live in Spain?
I am an American student, recent graduate, wanting to travel to Spain with my fiance to live for 8 months. She will be working there on a Student Visa as part of her University course. I will also be seeking work to earn money so I know that I cannot be on a tourist visa. What type of visa I should aquire to make this possible? Would it make it easier if we were married? For Example, could I travel with her on her student visa as her spouse?

What you need to do is find out what type of card is accepted in Spain. If you look at the back of a credit card it has the brand of card (not Visa / MasterCard) I can't remember off hand what the different types are, maybe "cirrus" Call a major bank ie. wells fargo and ask them if they know. Or somewhere that has travel warnings / information. I have been to south America and I was able to use my credit card and debit card (through wells fargo) while I was there. Also make sure you call the company you have the credit cards through and tell them you are traveling out of the country or they will turn it off!! VERY important..
2 :
You should really contact the Embassy in Madrid for definitive detail on what Visa you will need
3 :
I lived in Spain on a student visa, and then looked into getting one after college to work. It is not easy. You have to have someone who will hire you to sponsor you, but finding someone to do that without having a visa is tricky. I am not sure about travelling on your girlfriend/potential wife's visa. You need to contact the Spanish consulate that covers the region where you live. You can find this information online fairly easily. I used the San Francisco consulate and it was VERY difficult to get ahold of them or to get straight answers. They are open limited hours, I think 8-1 or something like that. I also know that sometimes I had to speak Spanish, so if that is a barrier for you, you might need to find someone who can do the calling for you. Good luck, it is a lot of work, but being able to live in Spain is well worth it in my opinion!

How Spanish last names (Spain ) work when you get married

How Spanish last names (Spain ) work when you get married.?
I am trying to understand how Spanish ( from Spain ) work. They have two last names and I know one is the fathers and the other is the mothers, but if you were to marry someone from Spain how would it work. I will give fake names and if someone can tell me how it works I would appreciate that. Let's say my name is Nicole Andreola Bianchi ( which I don't use bc we don't do that in America). and my husband to be is Raul Ramos Hernandez. What would my name become if I married that man? Thanks a lot to whoever can answer this for me. The answers are even more confusing. lol If I married a man from Spain which last name would I take? The fathers right? And then you keep your father's last name and your husbands fathers last name? : ) I appreciate the answers thus far.
Other - Spain - 8 Answers
Random Answers, Critics, Comments, Opinions :
1 :
Generally your name would stay the same, but the name of any child that you had would take the fathers name first and the mothers name second - therefore your child would be called Spudoonika Hernandez Bianchi. However, the equal rights movement in Spain earlier this week successfully argued that the parents could choose which surname to use in which order they chose - http://www.tumbit.com/news/articles/2307-alphabetic-order-may-decide-kids-surnames-in-spain.html EDIT : It wouldn't change
2 :
Women's name do not change because of marriage. If you're Nicole Andreola Bianchi and you're marrying Raúl Ramos Hernández, both of you will keep the same last name and you're kids will be called *xxx* Ramos Andreola, or *xxx* Andrela Ramos depending on the order you choose.
3 :
Basically, people do not change their names on marriage. Names are made up thus. Christian name, then father's family name, then mother's family name. A recent change in naming law allows the mother's name to come second and the father's to come last. AND if the family cannot agree, the government will record the names officially in alphabetical order. This will cause chaos but who cares. Not Mr Zapatero. I, and an angry doctor, found that I had two medical files because my name is made up with my mother's family name second and father's third like many Brits.
4 :
The nearest I can figure is exactly like they do in Latin America. I know a woman from Spain. She was married when we met, her surname was the same as her brothers. It still is. She is divorced, now. Same (Paternal) apellido all along. Without knowing for sure, I'm pretty certain that her mother's name was attached until she married, and her husband's paternal apellido was attached, with a de, while she was married, and it probably reverted after her divorce. She only uses the paternal apellido, as do most people in my experience.
5 :
I'm Spanish, so I can help you! If your name is Nicole Andreola Bianchi, after you get married your name would still be Nicole Andreola BIanchi. You wouldn't change you name after you marry your husband, because in Spain we don't have the concept of the maiden name. To keep it short, your name after you get married is the same name you were born with. You enter and leave this world with the same name.
6 :
I don't think you have GOT to accept your husbands name anywhere in the world,. although for some Arab countries I will stand corrected on that point! I am english, married to spanaird, but almost everything I have is in my "english" single name........ some paper work I did add my husbands last name................but when signing papers etc., it is up to me if I add it at the time! EG. - if my name was Susan Smith...............I could now be.............Susan Gomez Smith........or not............must admit some spanish love their old family names especially the very wealthy or titled ones, their names read like a page from the local telephone book !! Pedro Garcia Gomez Hernandez, etc., they can go on for ages. Hope this helps a bit................
7 :
The answers aren't confusing at all. Neither your, your husbands, your dentist's or your cats name would change no matter who you marry. Spanish people have the same name from the day they are born 'til the day they die.
8 :
In Spain your name dont change when you married.

3 :
thats the beauty of tmobile and the others (except cricket) they'll work just fine outside of the U.S
4 :
The reason is that T-Mobile would have made arrangements with carriers in Spain (and other countries as well) to provide coverage for their phones. What you ned to know is that there is a cost and that you are not covered by the plan you have at home. Make sure you carefully read the information at this site: http://www.t-mobile.com/International/LongDistanceOverview.aspx?WT.mc_n=ILDCoverage&WT.mc_t=onsite and examine the costs for making calls and for roaming. There is a charge for both and T-Mobile appears to offer plans to which you must subscribe to get cheaper rates than if you just use the phone in Spain at the going rate using the the local provider (likely Vodaphone) with which T-Mobile has the agreement. Do your homework to ensure you are aware of cost based on your expected usage. If you are someone who has their phone "glued to their ear" connected to friends and/or family it could prove expensive if you are not aware of what that might cost. Have a good trip. I have visited Spain three times and enjoyed it each time.

You're very wise to be wasting no time at this critical juncture. Yes, immigrating to Spain is a good idea for you. Primary consideration should be learning Spanish -- especially terms for everyday items such as rutabaga, trailer hitch and sasquatch. Along with acquiring several tubes of 'wasabi' before leaving -- useful both as 'sushi' condiment and sunscreen -- be sure to find out about preparing 'tapas' at home.

You didn't say what your Nationality is... if you're a citizen of the EU then it's no problem but if you're and American, then it's probably not possible unless you have a technical skill they need in Spain. Just don't get caught working in Spain illegally because THAT can cause you more troubles than you want to handle.
