I lived in Southern Spain 5 years before it was legal to find work there. Now there are opportunities on the Costa del Sol. A lot of tourists so there is work in the tourist industry and in real estate sales. Condo's are booming there. Marbella is where the creme de la creme goes and Torremolinos where the cheap tours go. But hotels are everywhere and different tour guides etc...with different languages are always on demand. Try and visit and see what you can find out. Grand Circle offers inexpensive weekly tours.

Can I work over the summer in Spain?
Hi, I'm a Cegep student born in Canada and i've lived here all my life, but I have my portuguese nationality (don't have a portuguese passport though). Is it possible for me to work temporarily in Spain over the summer? Please post any solution to my problem thank you!

Do you have Portuguese citizenship or not? If you do then it's alright, without it you need to apply for a work permit.

No. You will need an all region dvd player

I'm not sure about Spain, but I brought a DVD in Hong Kong and it works here in the U.S.

Probably NOT because Spain, and all of western Europe is called Region 2. You will see Region 2 or the letters PAL on the back of the DVD plastic case. PAL DVDs and video casettes will play on a PAL television screen, having a certain number of lines of color and "flashes per second". In America, REGION 1,the NTSC system isused. Different lines on the screen and different "flashes per second". IT WON't work nohow noway... unless the DVD is coded as one that will play in any region. Probably the person above me, who bought a DVD in Hong Kong, bought such a DVD. Those Chinese are the masters of bootleg and piracy, and will sell anything to anybody for 10 cents profit. NOW FOR YOU, my fellow American. I have tried to buy a DVD player in America that will play both PAL and NTSC. No luck for 5 years. Here in Europe, I can buy a dual region DVD player EVERYWHERE and they are cheap. 40, 45, 30 euro. The cheaper the better. And I buy DVDs in America and can play them for my children in Europe. But the European machine will not play ANYTHING on an American NTSC tv screen. Whatcha gonna do? one thing... buy your films in America and bring them to Europe, play them on a cheapy machine 220 volts! Good luck......from Trevor.
